Eden Lifestyle Spa & Salon for Men

Eden Lifestyle Salon has taken a fresh approach to the modern salon. Set in the tranquil Georgian town centre of Leamington Spa, in Warwickshire, UK, this urban day spa combines health, beauty and well-being and brings the very latest therapies and treatments to its clients – right next to the birthplace of Shakespeare!

The salon provides a holistic approach to grooming and relaxation. On hand is a team of dedicated and highly trained professionals in hair
and beauty therapies. As well as a wide range of treatments available there is also a stylish licensed coffee house, so clients can either spend the day being pampered or turn up for a specific treatment. According to Tom and Debbie McKinney, the owners of Eden Lifestyle Salon, the philosophy of Eden is “to make our clients feel wonderful – in mind,
body and soul. It’s about taking them to Eden, the perfect place of relaxation and well-being.”

What do you see as the latest trends for 2007, either with regards to cutting styles or treatment preferences?
The latest trends are disconnected bobs at present, but we are also finding that people are looking at hair extensions more now and our fantastic Hair Contrast brand is proving very popular. This system is much quicker than the traditional extensions and gives a superb result every time. We also have the new Schwarzkopf Q10 products, which are specifically for rejuvenating the hair and has proved very successful in retail and also treatments.

What personally influences your views on cutting?

Celebrity styles – they tend to lead the way and we all then follow!

What have been the main factors behind your success?
Our ‘service levels’ are of a key factor to our success – our staff are all trained to the highest levels in terms of qualifications and customer service.

How do your stylists keep ahead of the trends?

All our staff read the premiere industry magazines, which has all the latest trends and tips for a successful salon and stylist.

How much does Shortcuts contribute to your business?
Shortcuts is becoming more and more important to us in terms of communication to our clients. The system itself offers us easy access to all of the reports and information we require and most importantly is it’s very ‘User Friendly’. When training new staff, the time taken is very short as it is so easy to pick up!

To what extent do retail sales play a part in your business strategy?
This is imperative to us as it commits the client to us as a business that bit more and ensures they are more likely to return for products as well as appointments.

What’s the single biggest thing that Shortcuts contributes to your salon?
The client database, which gives us the not only all the client history with a single touch, but allows us to communicate easily with the individual or on mass.

How do your staff get on with Shortcuts?

Very well, it is a complete system that works for us as much internally as with the clients.

What is your rebooking rate? How do you manage it?

Re-booking is starting to pick up – the team is more focused now that I ran a report and showed them their individual success rates.

What’s the biggest growth area in your salon?
Currently it is the beauty team that are growing constantly but we are now finding that we are also now increasing our hair appointments.

How do you see the cross-over between hair and beauty?
We aim to try and cross-link the two sides with every client, trying to gain their commitment to both sides of the business.
